I won’t soon forget this bridal session…at least not for the next 6-8 weeks while I’m wearing a walking boot after having fractured my fibula at the beginning of the session. I slipped on a rock and rolled my ankle.  I figured it was a bad sprain so I walked it off and limped around the rest of the night.  A couple of days and some x-rays later I found it was broken.

All that matters is that we finished the session and grabbed some great shots!

If there is an argument for doing formals on a day other than the wedding day, this day could fall right in line.  Don’t get me wrong, there’s always great moments to be captured, regardless of the weather, and personally, I liked the snow…it gave everything a unique feel, especially so late into the spring/summer.

Having said that, when you plan on having a wedding in the late spring, you are hoping for nice weather…for the wedding, for the photographs, for everything.  When the weather doesn’t “cooperate” on the wedding day, having a formal session on a day other than your wedding day can be a rewarding plan.  I think you will agree we still captured the moment for Megan & Kevin.  The reception at Eaglewood Reception Center was wonderful and the weather had cleared up beautifully then.

I don’t usually shoot at the Salt Flats until around late July or August as it’s usually pretty wet until then.  In fact, I had never been out there when it’s wet until last week.  It’s an entirely different experience.  It’s quite lovely as it turns out.  While we were out there, we met William and a couple of his buddies.  They had rented a truck and were running around in the water having a great time.  As it turns out, William is a photography student at the U and he was snapping away with his…uhh…Canon 5DMII.  William suggested we go out into the middle of the flats where the water was only about an inch deep all around.  He even offered to take us out there in the rental truck.  We were nervous getting in a truck with someone who shoots Canon, but we agreed it was a good idea. .

Even though the sun seemed like it was in a hurry to get to bed that day (I suppose the sun doesn’t sleep, but you know what I mean), I think everything turned out quite nice. Here’s a few shots of Addi and Zachary and some BTS (behind the scenes) shots of Mike “in the zone.”

I need some Senior Ambassadors (that’s what everyone else calls them) .  Basically, I need a student from each of the area schools to trade some senior portraits for helping promote to the rest of the student population at their school.  If you are interested, or know someone interested, send them my way!  I promise I won’t make you/them stand in front of a sparkly backdrop with a big “2011″ sign!

For those of you not in high school or who don’t get to be Senior Ambassadors…all is not lost…I suppose I can offer a $50 referral fee for any booked senior sessions…

On to Skyler…we had a great time with Skyler (although a bit nervous on the last set with his Lakers jersey – the Jazz were then still playing them in the playoffs).  I didn’t want to find out how well my D3 functions as a defensive tool. .  Everything turned out well and we finished the evening with a little dinner at Rubios with Skyler and his family (family portrait session post to follow)…here’s a few from Skyler’s senior session…
